Milan were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw with Roma on Sunday, a result that left them eighth in Serie A. Despite initially saying he had "no signal" to suggest he would not be in charge for their next match, he later told reporters as he left the San Siro in his car that he had indeed parted ways with the Italian giants. Now, the Rossoneri have made it official the Portuguese is no longer in charge, with Christian Pulisic and his team-mates set to find out who their next manager is.

Fonseca only joined Milan this summer and despite largely impressing in the Champions League this season, with the Rossoneri currently 12th out of 36 teams, they are 14 points behind league leaders Atalanta in Serie A. Reports in Italy state ex-Porto manager Sergio Conceicao – who had a spell with Inter in his playing days – will replace him imminently.

It remains to be seen if Conceicao will be in charge for Milan's Supercoppa Italiana semi-final away to Juventus on January 3.
